Urgent support

Something's gone wrong. Let's work out what to do next.

A data breach. A privacy complaint. Contact from a regulator. A compliance problem you didn't know you had. When something happens, knowing what to do first can make all the difference.

Waymark offers urgent privacy and data protection support, starting with a free 30-minute SOS call to help you understand the situation, identify the immediate priorities and decide what needs to happen next.

30 minutes · No charge · No obligation

You might be here because…

Something has happened — or you've discovered something isn't right.

You don't need to know whether it's technically a breach, how serious it is, or exactly which rules apply before asking for help.

Data breach

Personal or confidential information has been lost, disclosed, accessed or sent to the wrong person.

Complaint or rights request

A customer, employee or other individual has complained about how their information has been handled or exercised their data protection rights.

Regulator contact

You've received correspondence from the ICO or another regulator and aren't sure how to respond.

Compliance problem

You've discovered that something your organisation has been doing may not comply with data protection or other information requirements.

Supplier or system incident

A supplier, technology platform or other third party has told you about an incident that could affect your organisation or its data.

You're simply not sure

Something doesn't feel right, but you don't yet know whether it is a regulatory issue or what your obligations might be.

The first 30 minutes

Get clarity before you make the next move.

In an urgent situation, the first challenge is often separating what matters now from everything else.

The SOS call gives you 30 minutes with experienced privacy and information governance leadership to talk through what has happened and establish a practical way forward.

1

Understand

Tell us what has happened and what you know so far.

2

Prioritise

Identify the immediate risks, deadlines and actions that may need attention.

3

Decide

Leave with a clearer view of what to do next and whether further specialist support is needed.

You won't be expected to have completed an investigation or prepared a detailed briefing before the call. Bring what you know. We'll start there.

What the call can help with

Practical help when you need it

The SOS call provides initial practical guidance based on the information available at the time. It is not a substitute for legal advice where legal advice is required.

  • understanding whether an incident may constitute a personal data breach
  • identifying immediate containment or fact-finding priorities
  • considering whether regulatory notification may be required
  • understanding relevant deadlines
  • working out what information needs to be gathered
  • thinking through communications with affected individuals, customers, suppliers or regulators
  • responding to a complaint or regulatory correspondence
  • assessing a newly discovered compliance issue
  • identifying where specialist legal, cyber security or other support may also be needed
  • establishing a practical plan for the next few hours or days

Experienced support

Calm advice. Practical judgement.

Waymark brings senior-level experience across privacy, information governance, risk and complex regulated environments. The focus is not simply on identifying what the rules say, but on helping organisations understand the risk, make proportionate decisions and move forward with confidence.

Where an issue crosses into cyber security, legal advice, technology, contracts or wider governance, Waymark can also help identify what additional expertise may be needed rather than pretending every problem has a privacy-only solution.

What happens after the call?

Sometimes 30 minutes is enough to point you in the right direction. Sometimes it isn't.

There is no obligation to engage Waymark after the SOS call.

If the issue needs further support, we can explain what that might involve and agree the scope and cost with you before any paid work begins. This could range from some additional advice through to hands-on support managing an incident, regulatory response or remediation programme.

No surprises. No work starts without agreement.
